The City of Sydney appointed Environmental Partnership as part of its Sydney collaboration TDEP (see Collaborations) to prepare the Observatory Hill Masterplan.
The Masterplan provides a consolidated planning and management direction for one of Sydney’s iconic open spaces. The plan outlined a set of high priority short-term actions to be implemented within the framework of a longer term, holistic plan for the precinct.
A range of issues was addressed as part of the long-term programme, including establishing a direction for those far reaching and significant actions, that take time to plan, fund and implement. A shared vision for the Observatory Hill precinct was established which represented the complex range of government land owners and managers of this place.
A notable consideration in development of the plan was the urban development at Barangaroo. In particular this included how potential new open space (e.g. Headland Park and Central Parklands) and new community facilities will enable Observatory Hill Park to function as part of a connected network of open spaces and recreational amenity for the City.
TDEP collaborated with heritage consultants, GML Heritage who provided heritage advice throughout the project to ensure that assessed heritage values of the Hill were integrated as part of the masterplan process.
