Environmental Partnership in collaboration with RobertsDay, (project lead) and GTA Consultants undertook the Complete Streets study which sought to transform central Bankstown’s vehicle oriented street system into a network of ‘complete streets’ and connected, great places. A multidisciplinary approach between urban designers traffic engineers and landscape architects, the strategy for the central city is one that places priority around the pedestrian realm, analyses the streets with a ‘city at eye level’ bent and integrates traffic and transport concerns as Bankstown looks to transition to a higher order centre in the coming years. Supporting the masterplan is a suite of strategies which address the different modes and activities to be integrated in the future streets and spaces.
