Environmental Partnership was commissioned to undertake a concept masterplan and documentation for the renewal and revitalisation of the Great River Walk at Windsor. The project aim was to improve the foreshore walking route through the CBD area and create informal day to day recreational places and amenities for the community. It was also required that these areas could accommodate annual special events such as the Christmas Carols, New Years Eve celebrations and the Sand sculpture Competition held for three weeks in January which attracts over 7 million visitors each year.
These gathering spaces had to seamlessly mesh with the through route of the river walk which runs along the river foreshores.
The project was implemented with limited funding which required the team to maximise on site refurbishment and reuse of existing materials from site where possible.
