Environmental Partnership was the consultant to NSW National Parks and Wildlife for the design and documentation of a standard boardwalk system that can be used in environmentally sensitive areas along the Coast Track in Royal National Park.  The Coast Track is NSW’s most popular multi-day walk and the high level of visitation leads to significant erosion of track sections in the fine grained natural geology.

The project was undertaken in close liaison with a working group of NPWS management and operational staff in order to draw on field experiences and past trials of materials and techniques

The focal challenging to the project team was the resolution of an environmentally sensitive approach that was simple and cost effective to transport and setout on site and install.  Durable design elements with low maintenance requirements were reviewed and tested in refinement of the final designs.
